Superfoods Matcha Latte Recipe

Get a gentle and sustainable boost of energy from this delicious matcha latte recipe.

Matcha Lattes have become an important part of my daily ritual and give me the perfect mid-day energy boost that I need with out the caffeine jitters.

Matcha is a type of green tea made by grinding tea leaves into a fine powder.

Not only does it taste good, but has many health benefits as well. This green tea is high in antioxidants. It enhances focus & concentration and contains various nutrients to support the immune system.

When purchasing matcha, look for a USDA organic certification. It also comes in three main qualities or grades:

  • Culinary: Best used for baking, can be gritty when used in tea.

  • Premium: Higher quality than culinary and easier to blend.  They also call this “Barista Grade” and can be used in lattes

  • Ceremonial: Highest grade of matcha available, has a fine texture and froths beautifully. Recommend to drink on its own to fully experience the complexities of the tea.

** I recommend Premium grade for this recipe. Jade Leaf Matcha is a great one to start with. Click here to find on Amazon.

\Matcha is a superfood on its own, but to add an additional nutritional boost I love buying matcha with an added adaptogens to support my wellness journey. I’m currently loving Magic Matcha from Oasis Adaptogens. I like to throw in a bit of maca root powder to help with hormone balance as well. Collagen and ashwaganda would also be great add in options.

Whipping up this yummy drink couldn’t be easier. I hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think in the comments.

Matcha Latte Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups plant based milk (I like to use unsweetened almond)

  • 1 tsp matcha powder

  • ¼  cup water (to blend green tea powder)

  • ¼  tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of pink Himalayan Sea Salt

  • 1 ½ - 2 Tbs Maple Syrup

Matcha Latte Instructions:

  1. Place the milk in a saucepan on the stove and bring to a simmer

  2. In the meantime, whisk the tea with water and blend until there are no clumps.

  3. Add the remaining ingredients (vanilla extract, sea salt, and maple syrup) to the warmed milk

  4. Whisk in the green tea and enjoy!

*To serve cold, refrain from heating the milk and blend milk, salt, vanilla and maple syrup. Add ice, than pour over your matcha.
